Black Bridge Improvements: Timber Post & Steel Rail Fencing

by Kate Watkiss

As part of the Anglesey Regeneration Contractor Framework, we completed the Black Bridge improvements in Holyhead. The main contractor was Mulcair Ltd and works involved improving an area of wasteland that was visible to train and ferry passengers close to the centre of Holyhead. Our works included installing a timber post and steel rail fence along a busy pedestrian route. The posts were made of Purpleheart, a very durable hardwood that is difficult to source in this country. The end posts were clad with decorative stainless curves to match previous schemes completed in the area.

The site had the added complication of being on a slope, which meant we had to adapt the posts prior to installing to ensure that the horizontal rails would pass through the posts and follow the contour of the ground. Works were completed successfully with close interaction with the landscape contractor.
