Melin Y Wig: Steel Cages & Timber Post Fencing

This was an exciting project which we completed for the environment agency (now Natural Resource Wales). It involved re-building and strengthening a river bank which has been eroded during a heavy flood.

We used a system of steel cages filled with stone with sockets left to take the timber posts for the fencing. The scheme was made extra challenging because access to carry the materials was limited due to a weak bridge accessing the site. We also had to time the work to coincide with a dry period so that the river levels were as low as possible.

The Environment Agency was impressed with our method of working and emergency procedures during this environmentally sensitive project.
