Anglesey Coastal Path: Hardwood Boardwalk

We were contracted by Enterprise AOL to provide and install a hardwood boardwalk which would complete a vital section of the Wales Coastal Path:

The boardwalk was to be built above a ‘clawdd’ wall, high enough so that the footpath was accessible even at the highest spring tides. We designed the boardwalk and produced a drawing for approval.

There were many factors to consider for the successful completion of the works including the tide, welfare for the installers due to the remote locations, emergency evacuation procedures, environmental factors and access for materials and equipment. The only solution was to use a helicopter to transport the materials, welfare and equipment.

The installation went to plan and schedule but unfortunately there was no trip for any of us in the helicopter!
